Plastic Bag Q’s

March 10, 2011 at 12:31 PM

1) The bag says thta he wanted to be made so that he could die because hes been in the world for a long time and there is nothing he can do. He’s seen the world, interact with things but it doesnt make him happy.

2) The bag says that hes useless for aninmals because he cant be eaten by them and they dont know what to do with it.

3)This film reflect on this class because were studying how the world is and how humans are. And in the movie it shows how people are and what they do.

4) The movie connects to chemistry because we have been studying materials that goods are made of and that the plastic bag wont desintegrate because the material that its made of wont let it.

5) Literature and Chemistry are connected because we study how human act and what they do that can affect the planet. Like making factories and polluting the air. Some themes that can be related are.. is walmart good for america?. I think this is a good theme because walmrt buys manythings from other countries and its making lots of garbage.

Outcome 10: how is life in the Bronx similar to “waiting for Godot”?

December 2, 2010 at 12:27 PM

I think life in the Bronx is similar to “Waiting for Godot” because in the story when it’s dark it gets very dangerous on the street and often people get beat up by groups. In the Bronx it’s the same people get assaulted at night whenever you’re in a dangerous place. Another similarity is that in the story the two friends help each other and keep each other in company, in the Bronx is the same the friends always stick together and help each other in needs.

Outcome 11-13: writing a letter to Estragon and Vladimir

December 2, 2010 at 12:18 PM

Dear Estragon and Vladimir;

I’m sorry I wasn’t there on time like I told you; I had some inconvenience to take care of. I hope the two of you can forgive me for that. Oh I haven’t told you how I look, well let me tell you now. I’m a short kind of guy with black hair, I wear a brown jacket, dark blue jeans and brown boots. The two of you shouldn’t give up trying to be the way you used to be before, there is still time to change but you need to believe in your self’s. I’ll only try to help you two realize that there is more than you see to the world and that anyone has a chance to be someone.

Sincerely,

Godot

Outcome #7 10/29/10

Group 1

I liked that play it was a little funny to me. What I learned from it was that Estragon and Vladimir didn’t know when Godot was coming.

Group 2

What I learned from this play was that they wanted to hang them self but they didn’t do it then they wanted to do something while waiting for Godot.

Group 3

It was a funny play. What I learned was that they were hungry and while waiting they were eating carrots.

Group 4

The play was fun because a guy came with a slave. I learned that Pozzo seems rich because he has a personal slave.

waiting for Godot

October 25, 2010 at 4:59 PM

How are they?

Estragon is a poor guy who lives on the street but he used to be respected ny everyone back then and is a good friend with Vladimir.

Vladimir is a poor guy who dresses well and seems  to know Estragon from a long time ago, he seems more positive than Estragon.

Where are they?

They are in France because in the story says something about the Eifel tower
and they are near a tree waiting for a friend of them.

What is the problem?

Te problem is that they are waiting for a guy named Godot and they don’t know when or at what time he is gonna come to the place.

What is the connection to human condition, existentialism and absurdism.

The connection to human condition is that people loose what they have some times and don’t have place to go that’s why they live in the street. This is also conected to absurdism because Estragon gives up in everything and says “nothing to be done” which says that nothing is worth doing.

Prediction

My prediction is that Godot is gonna find Estragon and Vladimir sitting by the tree waiting for him and they are gonna get updated bout their past.

Painting:”Bohemia Lies at the Sea”

Artist: Alsem Kiefer

Description: There is a road that keeps going with a big field of flowers.

Connection: Its connected to existentialism because the road leads somewhere but the fields are endless.

Painting:”Number 28”

Artist: Jackson Pollock

Description: There is many colors involved but they are being hidden by other colors.

Connection:This is connected to absurdism because there is no point how you see the painting you will only see colors so its useless to look at it.

Outcome 5

‘He who despairs of the human condition is a coward, but who has hope for it is a fool’

-By:Albert Camus

I think that this quote mean that the person that hates and doesn’t like the human condition will be a coward but the one who still hopes it will change for good is a fool.

Is connected to existentialism because even tough u think life and human condition is worthless people think your scare of life and if you still have hope that everything will change your wasting your time.

Powaqqatsi part 1 and 2

October 7, 2010 at 10:06 AM

On the movie Powaqqatsi people live in harsh condition at the beginning  there was lots of mud and they were not dressed well. They seem to work really hard and they all looked tired. They lift heavy stuff in their backs going up a mountain. Their conditions are not good they seem to have lots of natural disasters and got to re-built it again.

People hunt together, they build things to help them in their everyday work. They work in physical labor everyday their land scape are beautiful they seem to live in a peaceful area.

They have organized work, they divide the work for each other. Cities look very crowded. They trade among each other and have animals. People are religious and they meditate a lot and pray. Many people got to the streets with products on their back, on festival they wear mask they also do dances with costumes. A train was shown in repetition trying to tell us that this could happen d all over again. They show the city and how its formed. Modern times are being shown and technology. They are showing people from different places and how humans have change over time. This movie has gone from the past to the present.

H.W. part 1

Why did Rutu Modan write the stories she wrote? What kind of message is she trying to convey about the world and people?

I think that Rutu Modan wrote the storie’s Home coming and Jamilti because she wanted to show that relation ships change if there is not to much love between couples.

I think this thing because in the storie Home coming there is a couple but they seem to have a little problem. Also the girl seem to still feel in love with Gadi.

i think these thing because in the storie Jamilti because when she rescued the suicide person in the cafe she kept thinking about him when she was home with her fiance.
